Wine: 2005 Selaks Ice Wine

Review: This ice wine is a blend of Riesling and Gewurztraminer grapes. Like most ice wines, this one comes in a 1/2 bottle, but it is relatively inexpensive at $20 a bottle. It had a deep yellow color and a faint aroma of honey. The wine itself was sweet, but underwhelming, if I had paired it with a dessert it would overtaken by any flavors in the dessert.
A good stand alone wine.
Price: $19
Grade: 85

i'm digging your blog. i am forever the person standing confused at the wine store. though, i did just discover there is a decent wine shop walking distance from my home. life is good.
A good wine shop is the novice's best friend...the people there will help you pick out wines you like.
A lot of wine stores have regular tastings, try to go to those and take notes so you can remember what you like :).
Thank you for the kind words about this site.
Hello Allan,
I have been big on New Zealand (Sauvignon Blanc)
this year so will try to find this sweet selection at Total Wine this week.
The description and price jives well with me. The color is good indication that it is a true ice wine, and not an ice styled wine like I’m used to seeing.
Happy Sipping!
Dezel
Dezel,
I actually saw this at Total Wine today for $17, even better. And, it is a true ice wine and not just a "late harvest" wine.
