Wine: 2005 Ecco Domani Chianti

Review: I like good Chianti because it goes with so many foods. It is a basic utility wine that goes well with pizza, pasta and a wide variety of foods. This Chianti is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes with a hint of cherry.
This was a crisp dinner wine, it did not have a strong aftertaste and was short on the palette.
Price: $11
Grade: 85

I agree with you on Chianti's food versatility. I had an inexpensive one just the other night -- a 2004 Rocca Delle Macie. The simple structure of these Chiantis seem to be stamped with a drying clean finish, slightly bitter. That's why I find them so rewarding at dinner, especially at the end of dinner rather than with appetizers. Puts a nice finality to the meal, kind of like a good espresso.
A bit more on that Delle Macie Chianti and pizza (yum!) over here.
Cheers!
