Boost Your Wine Knowledge

Dave McIntyre has a surprisingly good article in the Washington Post with tips on how toboost your wine knowledge.

All of his suggestions boil down to one thing: drink more. Whether it is through a wine club, exploring your favorite varietal, visiting local wine stores, drinking locally or hosting a wine dinner. The point is the more you drink the more you will know about wine.

I do take exception to one point in the article:

Do you love chardonnay? Most wine drinkers do.

Most of the people I know do not like Chardonnay, admittedly, my peer group may be different than the average wine drinker's (okay, my peer group IS undoubtedly different than the average wine drinker's). But I don't get the feeling that Chardonnay is nearly as popular as it once was.

I've contacted Wine Intelligence to get their take on what US consumers are drinking and see if that statement still holds true.

The Wine Whore said...

To make a statement like "Most people like ..." is really stupid!

Do they have any stats to back that one up?
