One of the things that I love about Virginia wineries is that they are not afraid to experiment. Because Virginia is such a young wine growing region winemakers are willing to try new varietals to see what really marries well with the terroir. But, it is not just about experimenting with grapes, its also about experimenting with events. Breaux Vineyards has events built around cajun foods, Loudoun Valley Vineyards has their soup days, and DelFosse Vineyards has their crepe days!
I love Crepes. The Eiffel Tower Cafe, here in Leesburg, makes excellent Crepes and there a few places in the DC area where you can get excellent crepes, but none as nice as DelFosse Vineyards.
French Crepe Days are being held on September 12th and October 3rd and they feature both savory and sweet crepes. On the savory side there is a choice of sauteed shrimps in a white wine reduction or mushroom shallots and eggs. On the sweet side there is a choice of strawberry, Nutella and bananas, or traditional French style.
Given the bankruptcy issues that plagued DelFosse earlier this year it is nice to see they are continuing with these types of events!
