Reduce, Reuse, Recycle -- that is the mantra for anyone who cares about the environment. Most people will tell you that, in terms of impact on the environment, it is better to follow that order.

A lot of people recycle their wine bottles, but what if you didn't have to recycle? What if the bottles could be reused? A new company in American Canyon hopes to get people to send them their empty wine bottles to be reused by wineries:

Reusing whole discarded bottles is more environmentally friendly than using new bottles or melting recycled glass cullets — pieces of broken glass, Stephens said.

Reusing discarded wine bottles saves 95 percent of a bottle’s carbon footprint, Stephens said.
