While I was in Bordeaux, I was lucky enough to take a tour of Chateau du Tertre with Mathieu Huguet, a Wine & Viticulture Consultant based out of Bordeaux.
The vines of Chateau du Tertre are planted on Le Grand Poujeau a large plateau with gravel soil that sits 20m over sea level.
The property has been in place since 1143, but it has only been around in it's current form since the 18th century.

Taking a tour of a Chateau while the harvest is actually happening is great because you can watch the whole process.
The grapes come in from the vines and are run through the de-stemmer. Next, they are run though a scanner (similar to Chateau Brane-Cantenac) and dropped into a bin.

The bin is then taken to the concrete fermentation tanks and the grapes are dumped in to the tanks. It takes less than an hour from when the grapes are harvested until the fermentation process starts.

After we finished the tour we were lucky enough to see the Chateau owner stop by for a visit.
