Albemarle County’s noise ordinance leaves much to personal interpretation, and dependent on the surrounding residents may be used to force the wineries to cease holding these events. It is with this in mind that I urge you to read the information regarding this ordinance, and if you feel like we do, to sign the petition as either a resident or non-resident of Albemarle County [there are two specific petitions].
This is a problem that continues to plague Virginia wineries. Barrel Oak Winery went through a similar problem a couple of years ago and these aren't the only wineries that have been affected.
While I certainly understand the desire of neighbors not to be disturbed, weddings and winery events typically end at reasonable hours and are confined to weekends. The Virginia wine industry is still young and limiting the ability of wineries to host events is going cause irreparable damage to it's growth.
So, visit the Keswick site and sign one of their petitions.
