2011 Heart's Delight (@HeartsDelight) Wine Tasting #Bordeaux

One of the local events that I look forward to each year is the Heart's Delight Wine Auction. It is a great chance to meet winemakers from some of the top Chateaux in Bordeaux and help raise money for an important cause.

I've written about Heart's Delight before, it is a great event and a wonderful night. It is also a successful event, over the last 12 years the Heart's Delight festivities have raised more than $10 million to fight heart disease.

This year's tasting was hosted Jancis Robinson and featured long time Heart's Delight supporters such as Chateau Brane-Cantenac, Chateau Palmer and Chateau Coutet as well as new comers like Chateau Lafon-Rochet.

There were 16 Chateaux present, each Chateau poured the 2008 vintage as well as an older vintage. The older vintages ranged from Chateau Coutet's 1998 vintage to the 2006 vintage that many of the Chateau provided.

Vertical tastings are alway fun, especially when the winemaker is there to talk about the vintage while you are tasting. This night was no different, everyone had a lot of fun and got to try some great wine.

More importantly, this event really showcases the generosity of many of the Chateau in Bordeaux. The Chateau provide wine and personnel at their own expense to raise money for the American Heart Association.
