On Tuesday, Loudoun County's newest winery received it's ABC Farm Winery license. The surprising name of that new winery is Hunters Run Wine Barn. Hunters Run has completed the journey from Tasting Room to Winery and owner Geri Nolan could not be more excited.
I spoke with her on Sunday about the transition, she has learned a lot over the last few years and is anxious to accelerate her learning.
If you have been by the Tasting Barn over the past few weeks you probably noticed the vines out front. Geri has a 1/2 acre of Chambourcin planted at the Tasting Barn, but she also has a vineyard in Mount Jackson that is planted with Traminette, Viognier, Cabernet Franc and Chambourcin. She also plans to add Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Geri is working with Randy Phillips, owner and winemaker at Cave Ridge Vineyards, who is hosting her custom crush. Randy is also mentoring Geri as she delves deeper into the winemaking process.
The first bottling should occur around the end of July and will most likely consist of Viognier and Chambourcin.
Congratulations to Geri, Anne and the whole team at Hunters Run Wine Barn, Loudoun County's newest winery!
